*What is a Large Format Camera?

A large-format camera is a system that shoots sheet film in various sizes. At Gibson and Glass, we operate both 4×5 and 5×7 large-format cameras. Large format photography combines an unparalleled depth of field across all mediums with the softer and more emotive qualities of any analogue process.

Any large-format camera requires a considered approach– the set-up and take-down times are far greater than all modern systems, and focusing the camera can take time. We recommend that the photographs you want us to capture in this way be specified on your shot list! Formal portraits or individual details are more suited to this method of working.
